Visiting the Wild West

I visited the Wild West re-enactment group at their town of Tranquility near Huntly Aberdeenshire. Had a great time, took over 20 plates. It was a lot of fun to work strictly in period, only glass bottles and metal trays for my process. The guys made fantastic subjects. The local paper did a short feature on my visit.

We have been taking most of our photos outdoors, and using a living room for our studio. Now we are refurbishing one of our outbuildings as a new studio. In a couple of weeks it should be complete.
Meanwhile you can see the state of things. Starting to come together. We've now got storage racks for backdrops, props and costumes.

Our new studio camera

We have now purchased a wonderful studio camera for portraits. This camera sits on an 80 pound cast-iron stand and has a bellows extension of 3 feet ! It will take plates up to 10x8 inches in either landscape or portrait format. We have been working at getting this camera restored and able once again to take studio portraits. We are looking forward to getting some great results with this monster camera.
